Statement of the Managing Partners of CORE SE regarding current media coverage on Holger Friedrich
Berlin, November 22nd, 2019 – Regarding the media coverage in conjunction with the activities of our colleague Holger Friedrich as publisher of the “Berliner Zeitung”, we issue the following statement.
Holger Friedrich is a founding member of the CORE group, a minority shareholder as well as a member of the executive board of CORE SE.
We are deeply concerned by the allegations against Holger Friedrich and the way in which they were made. Currently, we have no way of assessing the validity of the allegations regarding Holger Friedrich's possible involvement with the “Ministerium für Staatssicherheit” 30 years ago. According to the federal commissioner (“Bundesbeauftragter für die Unterlagen des Staatssicherheitsdienstes der ehemaligen Deutschen Demokratischen Republik (BStU)“), most of the dossiers (“Opferakte Habicht“) have not yet been made available. After they have been supplied, an expert commission will analyze and classify all information. Holger Friedrich is fully cooperating with all involved agencies.
Until all dossiers and the expert analysis have been supplied, Holger Friedrich will let his mandates in the CORE group rest. The successful realization of projects according to the highest professional standards has always been CORE's top priority, regardless of individuals. CORE's performance in accordance with these standards remains unaffected by current events.
CORE SE reserves the right to take legal action against the allegations made against the CORE group in the course of reporting on Holger Friedrich.
